Re: George Lynch tone test
send me link to the separate doubled tracks so I have both of them (separately)
Unless you want to redux it - I'd add a skoosh more gain; listening to the original.

Re: George Lynch tone test
Will do.
Also, I changed the speakers (IR's) I'm using from Celestion greenback G12M to Celestion G12H 30watt.
I noticed the G12H breaks up sooner than the G12M, and frankly sounds better for the Nuno & Lynch stuff.

Re: George Lynch tone test
The crunch of the amp sounds about right...Is this your JCM amp? Were you boosting with a OD pedal at all?
I'm fairly certain George was boosting the Aspen Pittman 1972 Purple Marshall 100 watt SL with a tubescreamer for those tones.
Georges pickups are all over the place, I've heard Duncan Distortion, PAF's, now Arcane makes the Mr. Scary A-8 pickup at 13-14K, not sure if he uses them.
I went to one of Lynch's Guitar clinics in 2006/2007 and asked him what pickup he was using in Dokken, he said I honestly don't remember, I asked if he used the Duncan Distortion? He wouldn't say........what a pussy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who really cares in 2007 c'mon........
I'm sure he remembers... other than that he seemed like a decent guy to me, he wasn't pretentious at all besides not answering my question.

Re: George Lynch tone test
So, here's what we PM'ed about earlier..
I think you're on to something.
80V definitely sounds better to me than 70V. Funny thing was, at 100VAC on the variac, I was not able to control the input signal coming in from the reactive load. I turned the pot on channel 1 of my audio interface all the way down, and the signal was still too hot (-11). So, I turned the Master Volume down on the amp to try to get control of the input level and of course that just fucked up the tone.

I'm running two of my cloned boost pedals in front of my JCM-800 into a reactive load.harddriver wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 10:20 pm The crunch of the amp sounds about right...Is this your JCM amp? Were you boosting with a OD pedal at all?
Trying different mains voltages to see how that affects the distortion tone and the mid-range.

Re: George Lynch tone test
Ok, I installed a 1MΩ volume pot in the line out from the reactive load.. This allows me to control the signal going into the audio interface.
So, here are the 90VAC and 100VAC clips:
