Re: The US Military is Now a Laughing Stock
This video reminds me of the time I was in the field with my unit (prolly around 1984). I was on guard duty with another soldier. We watched a black female private in our unit walk right past the checkpoint and out into the Mojave desert (this was at fort Irwin at the NTC).
We radioed it in and a few minutes later two jeeps from our unit went screaming out of the company area into the desert to find her.
She went AWOL from a training exercise. We get back to fort Polk, she is moved to another unit.
About 2~3 months later, I pull CQ duty. The phone rings and I hear, "This is specialist Corley. I need to speak to the first SGT."
I go and get Top, and I say, "Hey Top.. specialist Corley is on the phone asking for you." He kind of shrugs and goes, "Ok.."
So I ask him, "So, she got promoted ?"
He sheepishly replies, "Yeah."
That was some bullshit right there.. and that was in the mid-80's
