I worked in the oil & gas industry in Houston for many years, and I had more than a few geologists and drillers tell me pretty much the same thing.. that they know there is an entire layer of the planet core that is oil. More than you can imagine.
But it does not benefit anyone in the industry for that information to become widely known.
