I grew-up in the old east end, moved to the Bellaire/Gulfton area at 14, went to Bellaire High and lived around there and the Sharpstown area until I met my wife - now when I go back to visit the rare friend or family that still lives over there - or go to the reincarnation of Prince's Hamburgers in the Sharpstown golf course - you'd think it was a third world country - even the Galleria is a total crime-ridden shithole now and it is really sad. We bought a house out near the edge of Katy and Hockley and we can see the signs that we need to make plans to move WAY further out down the road.

I grew up on the east side of Houston as well; Songwood; which is just opposite Jacinto City on I-10 @ Mercury Drive.

Went to Ebbert L. Furr high school right there in that subdivision, back when Furr was grade 7~12. It was the last school in Houston to be separated into junior/senior high schools.

When I got there in the 7th grade (1976), "integration" and "forced bussing" was going on. They were bussing in kids from Denver Harbor and Clinton Park and man, it was a fucking gladiator academy. The police were there at the school every single week for fights, stabbings, robberies, rapes, etc., etc..

Multiculturalism ruined that city.
