Warheads & Stop The World

Post by lll »

Couple of rough sketches here.

strat SH-5 Custom
Friedman BEODD
'66 Deluxe
Suhr RL
DAW
MixIR2 using Celestion Heritage Greenbacks (SM57, R121)
etc

Clean-ish parts in Stop The World done by just turning the guitar volume knob down to "3". The Custom is excellent at retaining chime and pretty clean for what it is.

I love my BE-OD pedals, but I just don't hear Nuno's tone from them.

He's got a very distinctive tone.. scooped, but fat at the same time. Some people describe his tone as "thin". I don't necessarily hear it as "thin".

Wasn't trying to nail Nuno's tone but with this particular setup I noticed it was in the ballpark in older clips I had done.

There's some DAW EQing going on too (hi pass lo pass, Pultec EQP-1).

Here's the pedal settings (normal channel was used, not the boost - normal channel is the bottom row of knobs)

(presence knob is cranked, too)

I've been chasing this tone for while now, and I think I've stumbled upon something by doing some "tone matching".

There's a free plugin from Nembrini I'm using. It's a ProCo RAT pedal.

I will try to post a clip this weekend and see what you think about how close I might (or might not) be.
