Yeah, the guy who recorded a couple of the Extreme records said he used a 4x12 cabinet loaded with Celestion G12H 30 watt speakers.harddriver wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 4:52 pm For some reason I seem to remember someone saying he used Greenbacks.....

Re: Nuno tone test
I liked it.... The 55HZ seemed to extend some of the lows nicely end and gave the tone a throaty/growly quality with a slightly dampened high end, not too much though. Your other 12H-30 clip sounded kind of brittle and a little sterile on the high end for some reason. I still feel you need a slight bump in gain, you have the crunch and clarity yet with that telltale hair on the notes though with the RAT.
What were your setting on the RAT and Amp in this clip?

Yeah, those are the Celestion brand IR's I downloaded this afternoon. I think they sound better than the RedWirez ones I was using before.harddriver wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 1:36 am I liked it.... I had the RAT clone pedal basically setup just like the Nuno settings:

Re: Nuno tone test
I agree the Celestion IR does sound much better. Maybe run the same clip with the Celestion Brand IR of the 75HZ 12H-30 then.......the 75HZ will be slightly tighter and less woody with more crunch/bite in the highs.
With the 8.5 K pickup you may need to add some gain either with cranking the volume on the RAT or a level boost from an EQ pedal into the amp just to get that extra punch you're missing, not alot just basically what a higher output pickup would give you. Maybe do a totally flat EQ on your GE 10 as use that level up to up you gain slightly.
Do you have a small EQ pedal like an MXR or Boss GE-7?

I did have the volume on the RAT at 10 before, but I was trying to rule out issues with the tone.harddriver wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 1:49 am I agree the Celestion IR does sound much better. I thought if I set the RAT pedal at the "Nuno settings" then I could rule that out.
Previously, I was also running another boost after the RAT. I am thinking about trying that again.

from what I remember it was his original setup in the early 90's was:
ADA MP-1 tube preamps
ADA power amps
Roland ME-5 or 6
old Ampeg V4 cabs
then switch cab's
Marshalls & Custom Cabinets loaded with 25 Watt Celestion Speakers
he had other Boss Pedal effects later also, he also tried Mesa Boogie for a brief time too.

Re: Nuno tone test
On the first record (which is really the tone I would be chasing) it was a JCM-800 and a RAT pedal (and studio EQ) according to Nuno.harddriver wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 2:53 am Here PLX you might enjoy this read about NUNO gear.....
