This Dean Baker Act 14K I think I had one in my Dean as well and it wasn't bad sounding pickup but it lacks some high end detail/crunch/clarity. I think I read it is designed after Dimarzio/Duncan distortion P/U, the one in my Dean was alright maybe a little generic sounding but not bad it didn't totally suck.

So you are looking to marry the two, high end detail, crunch but he punch of the 14K. ;)

I wouldn't think you would need or want to add any mids when you are using the RAT.
Those were the stock pickups that came in my Dean ML's

I remembered I seeing them last week when I was digging around in my box of pickups looking for A8 magnets.

I don't really like the way they sound, but they are 14K

Even though you don't like this particular pickup it did show you that in the punch department it was different that the 8.5K and with the right pickup it should get you to your Uber NUNO tone. ;)

There's just something about an asymmetric-wind humbucker in a Floyd Rose equipped guitar that just seems to work..

I don't pretend understand it - it just is. :)

The Super70 sounds fantastic in my non-trem Dean ML, but if I moved it into this guitar, I prolly wouldn't like it.

I'm leaning towards the Jalen FW 15.5kΩ asymmetric wind humbucker..

because "Jalen" rhymes with "Halen"

I hear some Nuno in there. What pickup were you using in this clip?

Maybe try a 55hZ Celestion 12H-30 speaker. ;)

That's the asymmetric humbucker 8.7kΩ A8 magnet.

Ownhammer is having a Labor Day sale.. I think I might download a speaker IR plug-in bundle.

Nuno used the G12H30's but these here are RedWire IR's. Maybe the OwnHammer's are better ?
