This Dean Baker Act 14K I think I had one in my Dean as well and it wasn't bad sounding pickup but it lacks some high end detail/crunch/clarity. I think I read it is designed after Dimarzio/Duncan distortion P/U, the one in my Dean was alright maybe a little generic sounding but not bad it didn't totally suck.
So you are looking to marry the two, high end detail, crunch but he punch of the 14K.
I wouldn't think you would need or want to add any mids when you are using the RAT.
I remembered I seeing them last week when I was digging around in my box of pickups looking for A8 magnets.
I don't really like the way they sound, but they are 14K
