I set the variac at 115V a couple hours ago.

I can't record right now because my wife is on a conference call for work.

That's the thing.. I don't have that speaker impulse.

I only have these:
1977 Celestion G12H “black back” with 55 Hz cone
1969 “pre-Rola” Celestion G12H with 55 Hz cone
Celestion "Heritage" G12H with 55 Hz cone
The Celestion 12H-30 75Hz will cut that bass that you hear in the 55HZ. For Ed tones I love the 12H-30 55HZ becasue it's more woody and pre-rola sounding compared to the 75HZ. For a tighter tone like Nuno or Metal the 75HZ 12H-30 is where it is at...of course IMHO.

Maybe try the 12G75T that you were using for your FW clips until you get a 12H-30 75hz IR. ;) That's good metal speaker.

Wait a minute :!:

I found that I have a Scumback H75 impulse.

It's Jim's clone of that Nuno speaker :!:

You should keep the same IR's used in your earlier clips so you have a good baseline to compare the different voltages from 100 to 110/115VAC. That way the only change is the Line voltage.

I hear the clips with the scumback IR of the 75HZ 12H-30 as a little harsh, it is tighter but harsher and it still has quite a bit of bass. Maybe it is the IR and how it was modeled?

I think I like the greenback and the 12H-30 55HZ mix you used earlier. The IR quality just seemed better for some reason. Are all these IR's from the same source/company?

I don't find this one too bassy at all. I guess you can do a post EQ to tighten it up but as it is really isn't woofy IMHO.

Maybe the treble on 8 made things a bit harsh... I dunno............ :?

This one seems tighter than the greenback and 12H-30 55HZ mix but not by much. So it did tighter up some more at 115ACV. Maybe try 110ACV and see what you get.

Is the preamp gain still on 6 for these clips? I'm still thinking like 7-8 but I know they back the gain of smidge for recording but maybe try 7-8 and see what it does, it may be too much... maybe not?

Ok, I think I finally found the correct Speaker IR for the Nuno stuff..

The only other thing I changed here was I dialed the TREBLE back down to 8, because like you said it was just fuzzing out the tone at 9.

Oh, I also turned the PREAMP up to 8

Amp still on 115ACV?

The Vintage 30 IR sounds pretty good... nice tight mid range and controlled low end. I think the biggest improvement is from the pre-amp gain on 8...the gain punch, compression and it's crunchier on the closed notes. Preamp on 8 is definitely more NUNO correct from what I'm hearing. It's not too gainy at all...........it's about right. ;) Now you just need to dial in the high end bite somewhat.

Can you use this same recorded clip now and just try out different IR's to compare and see which speaker captures the best NUNO.

I'd like to hear this exact clip but through the greenback/12h-30 mix then just a 12H-30 55HZ then just a greenback 75 or 55Hz?
