I'd like to see a video of someone else playing one of his mods. They are all loaded with reverb and he constantly mutes the strings when he plays.

I have modded my 72 Marshall SL with one of his mods I can say his mods are as good as you hear in the clips, yes he is a good player and that does factor into some of it but his mods do sound like that.

I think his mods are some of the best I have heard with him playing them. How is the bottom end? Do you have an effects loop? Do you mute the strings when you play as well?

Low end is the same as any plexi/superlead there is no depth mod for added low end. As for muting the strings I don't mute any more than I normally would say through any other amp, there is a little noise but no more than any modded Marshall or Splawn might be a little more noisy not much.

He just recently started adding a tube driven effects loop and it sounds pretty transparent judging from the clips. What I like about his mod platform is the amp retains all the clanky. crunchy characteristic of a great cranked plexi/superlead without taking it into heavily modded or Modern gained out territory.

No, I don't have a loop in my amp I usually run it in a Wet/Dry/Wet setup or totally dry if I'm jamming through one cabinet.

I love my plexi tones with a stock 68 and a the slightly modded 72 and I also have a Splawn modded 2203 circa 2003.

I would never want more low end, sometimes I wish you could go lower than zero on the dial.

I've messed around with most of the plexi style mods out there, the mod 5 and couple more but when I installed the Mikes RTmod using the shared cathode configuration first I like it alot, pretty much just sounded like a gained up plexi, it still has all the characteristic and feel of my variaced down EVH spec'd 68 getting hit with a flat boost EQ.

I then swapped over to a split cathode configuration, tweaked it some but it was still Mike's RTmod and I really like it. You may not like the effects the PPIMV has on your feedback(NFB) effects at lower volume but I turn mine at least a 1/4 to 1/2 up in to an attenuator to get some of my feedback(NFB) back, even at 3/4 up on the PPIMV it stills knocks off alot of volume.

RT mod Mike has been really honing his skills with his modifications and tweaking them along with his loop that he adds now because alot of people love loops. I just pull a line out signal with a Suhr iso line out and feed that to a separate amp(slaving essentially).

I find that preserves the quality of the distorted tones between the preamp and power amp characteristics running time based effects post distortion(Preamp and Power amp). Loops are cool though it one doesn't want to go to all that trouble and Mikes loop doesn't sound like it sucks to my ears, that above clip is pretty awesome IMHO.....................

Here's my fairly stock 69 Marshall build with NOS parts using a Lar/Mar PPIMV and that amp almost sounded as good as my variaced down 68 with all the EVH mods done to it.
