EVH 5153 Stealth 50 Watt Amp

Post by Tuco-Salamanca »

Is it the best EVH amp out there? I am interesting in one but not sure how it varies from the other earlier models which I like.

I think they sound pretty good but that new Iconic5150 is a contender pricewise. Both seem to be of decent quality, not alot of people bitchin about blown up EVH amps and warranty claims through the years.

The 50 Watt Stealth will have the most gain of all the amps. It also has a nice feel and response to it. It is tight and reactive without being stiff and has a squish and sag to it without being bloated and flubby. It responds nice and feels nice and is capable of covering all the musical ground out there. The concentric pots are nice as well. Plenty of options on the back to cover your needs. I have the newest 50 watt stealth and really like it. The next favorite for me would be the 2nd version of the original OG amp. All of them are nice and sufficient for rock and metal. The EL-34 version does sound different and a bit more bitey and potentially harsh if you aren't careful. On the EL-34 amp I like the 100 watt better than the 50. For what you do the newest 50 watt version stealth (6L6) is probably your best bet. If yo have any more questions, let me know. It is good to see you on here and playing again man!

Thanks Hardriver for those videos.

Thanks for the help Rocky, you never steer me wrong. I am looking at the 6L6 Stealth 50. Seems best for me.

I've been pretty impressed with the EVH amp line but these 50 watter EVHIII's really sound good IMHO. I don't think you could go wrong with one. Seems to be able to do all genre's of music well, classic, Rock and metal. It does have a tightness to it which the chugga chugga guys love............. 8-)

I also think I would prefer the 6L6 over the EL34 amps but some guys love their El34's.

Congrats on the new amp! Did you get the 6L6 model? I think the 6L6 is tighter and has a more dynamic tighter low end overall.
