Most Marshall amps run 1K 5 watt ceramic screen grid resistors on the power tube sockets. George has started using the 2.2K 70OV rating screen grids resistors now because less screen current help ease the stress on modern EL34 production tubes giving them greater reliability and longevity. According to George the only effect is a 1.5 DB reduction in overall output which is essentially negligible. So it might be something worth doing if you exclusively run EL34 tubes in your amps.

Those Welwyn 1k are actually 7 watts. Surprisingly. I stopped using them because the working voltage ratings are too low.

FWIW I now use 700V rated 2.2K Less screen current results in about 1.5db less overall output, but far better reliability with modern EL34's.
