Dunno....That looks like a high resolution digital picture from the Marshall Archives that had all kinds of pictures of old Marshalls. I snagged a lot of board pictures from that site. Is somebody claiming it is 12301? The last person to actually see inside 12301 was Dave Friedman when he rebuilt the head once again with actual wire from a donor 1968 head as a parts amp. Supposedly Ed said the amp had not sounded that good in years according to Friedman. I think that was around 2011/12 and supposedly Ed used the amp on a couple of tune on ADKOT 2012 album.

I have on picture that was reported to be a picture of 12301 and it obviously was after Peter Vanwheelden had been in there because it had teflon insulated wire on the preamp tube sockets and the mustards V1A and V1B coupling caps were changed out to what looked like some type of polyprolylene caps, in that pic the Phillips .68uf Chicklet cap was in place and I do believe there was 330uf cap on V2A.

I also have another pic of a Marshall amp reported to have been used on the Fair Warning tour built by Jose. It also had Oranges drop caps and it looks like the board had been repopulated with newer resistors and cap although there were some strange wire routing. I assume the amp was done by Jose but it was not the normal Jose mod setup, it looked mostly stock to me.

I don't have a way to post it here but I can send them to you if you wish.

I have pics of the 12301 preamp section; which were posted on Metro. I'll put em up soon.

Ahh, yeah I had that one too, tagged as 12301 and probably downloaded from the MetroAmp forum long ago.

There was so much bullshit there, It was tough to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Why is that 0.68µF "fat cap" so freakin' huge ? Gotta be a 400V cap in a position that a 25V cap would do. :?

So, this is purportedly an amp with a serial number 12369..

So within 68 units coming off the assembly line, the board material is changed ?

No it's not a full board pic, it's just another pic of the preamp section a little closerand to the left of the over head one posted here.

To my knowledge Marshall didn't start using the creme colored circuit boards until late 1971 into 1972. RT mikes 71 SL has the reddish/brown board like you see in most 69 amps. The Reddish/brown were mostly one year only appearance in 1969. The board in my 69 SB/SL build was a era correct material and it was hard to find, some guy on Metro has a small stock of that material so I bought the board off of him, I think he went by the name 6M$man on Metro. My 72 SL has the exact same creme colored board as the one in you pic. The other thing I noticed is Marshall didn't start using Phier resistors until 1969 here and there. I think in 68 they used Iskra resistors from what I have seen.

I'm going to say the creme colored board is not 12301.

My 72 is mixture of Phier and Iskra like they were using their stock of Iskras up.
