Thanks man !

There was so much EQ done to Ed's tone in the studio to get it to where it sound like what you hear on the record, it's incredible.

General overall EQ is similar, however when you crank on the first A chord (during verse) there's a nasty tone in the upper-mids... sounds like too much clipping at those frequencies or something.

I thought I was the only one hearing this...It almost sounds like the guitar tone is out of phase somehow. When he hits the open chords it sounds like a phase effect enveloping the core guitar tone that's not there in the actual isolated ED clip that PLX posted as a comparison.

Maybe there is a layering issue with that EQ matching software? I don't know enough about the EQ software to comment further. It you listen hard it does sound like a phase 90 is on the entire clip. If you listen to the Ed isolated clip it's warmer with definition.

I hear that too. There's a thing that happens with fab filter because it's making EQ adjustments in real time.

I keep dialing out Fab Filter to where it's was only in the mix at about 15%, because of that phenomena.

I've pretty much emulated what FF was doing with the EQ that's native to Reaper.

Here it is rendered without the Fab Filter EQ:

That harshness in the upper mids is still there, but just a hair less from previous.

Ears tell me it's roughly 1.5 or 2KHz area.
