RIP Mark Lanegan

Post by PLX »

In March 2021, Lanegan was hospitalised with severe COVID-19 and almost died. The virus had led to him going temporarily deaf, being unable to walk, and slipping in and out of a coma for several months. In a 2020 interview, Lanegan had described his beliefs in a number of COVID-19 conspiracy theories, including the idea the virus is linked to 5G technology. He also described paranoia that he and his wife were being surveilled by technological appliances. However, in 2021 he said he had concluded that the COVID-19 pandemic was a "natural event" and also admitted that "I was one of those knuckleheads who was wary of the vaccine. But I learned my lesson. I’ll be the first one to get a booster shot when it’s available in Ireland."

Lanegan died at his home in Killarney, Ireland, on the morning of February 22, 2022, at the age of 57. No cause of death was announced. Numerous artists, including Eddie Vedder, Iggy Pop, Moby, John Cale, Sleaford Mods, Badly Drawn Boy, Anton Newcombe, Peter Hook, Slash, Nick Cave and Manic Street Preachers paid tribute. Locals of Killarney, described as a "tightly knit community", also expressed a sense of loss. An obituary in The Guardian by Stevie Chick remembered him as "one of his generation’s most soulful singers".

Sad to hear this.... He should have listened to his intuition instead of overriding it....

I told my mom to prepare to start hearing alot of died unexpectedly or suddenly regarding otherwise younger healthy people...it has begun...

Sad indeed. Interesting flip he made there with his belief system. I wonder who turned him...? I also wonder if he really switched his stance or if this is media spin. I wouldn't be surprised if it was.

Regardless, very sad to hear.
