What was your very first Rock and Roll Concert?

Post by harddriver »

Mine was 1983 or 1984 and it was at the Riviera Theatre... Ratt was headlining with Lita Ford and band from Canada called Kickaxe opening. Kickaxe was pretty cool.

I think I was 14 and went with my older brother and his older friends.

My first concert was Motley Crue opening for Ozzy on the Bark At The Moon tour at the old Houston Summit - Waysted opened, also, but we got there a few minutes late and they had already played. I was 11 and in fifth grade and had been a huge Ozzy fan for the past two years - I was also BIG TIME into Motley Crue at the time and was just as excited to see them. Thankfully my stepdad and his little brother took me and although they weren't really aware of or fans of the music, they were sold by the time Motley did Helter Skelter as an encore. I remember being blown-away by Jake live, I was too young to have seen Randy but that show was awesome and Ozzy was a great showman and Jake just ripped.

Love Kick Axe ("Vices" album ):

1st concert was Aerosmith & Ted Nugent (Nugent opened) in '85

Not a fan of concerts anymore (well, never really was) - too many idiot douchebags, and the sound sucks.

I've seen a decent number, but best were Iron Maiden (Somewhere In Time)... and Badlands at a festival in '89 (maybe 20 feet away from the small stage and Jake).

Never got to see BOC, Deep Purple, DIO, RATT and a handful of others.

I have seen (if memory recalls):

Scorpions
Dokken
Metallica
Van Halen
Kingdom Come
Boston
Whitesnake x2
Motley Crue (meh)
Great White (meh) x2
Yngwie Malmsteen
Iron Maiden x2
Aerosmith
Ted Nugent
Badlands
