What are you using for an interface?

Post by RockyStar »

What is everybody using? What are the positives, negatives, etc. You happy with what you use or are you wanting something else?

I am considering the UA Apollo X4 but not sure if I should go a level higher or not?

I use the tried and true Scarlett 2i2 by Focusrite.

It's cheap, reliable and does everything I need it to do.

For 17 years I used the E-MU 1820m... ran flawlessly up until maybe 3 years ago, then I had to replace a handful of power caps.

The E-MU 1820m was a smokin' deal - same converters as the Pro Tools systems, plus a very flexible breakout box.

That being said, earlier this year I upped to a UA Apollo 6x... awesome shit for lack of a better word. Built a PC with a mobo that has Thunderbolt 3 to connect it up.

The UAD-2 plugins are killer, including a lot of the amps.

Roland Rubix. I like it for the onboard compression and limiter. I rarely use the limiter, but do utilize the compression quite often.

I have to say, for an interface that isn't a higher end rack unit and still has nice features, build quality and portability...the Arturua Audio Fuse stuff looks pretty awesome!

bumping this

My line 6 UX2 is being a bit weird and not loading podfarm so I basically have no amps etc to use but can get signal so can record but I am getting noise that I can not get rid of so ... am looking at buying a USB mixer instead (this one http://www.snw.co.nz/?cms_do=sale&sale_ ... ct_id=2503) .... I think it will work well but am a bit worried about the fact that there will be EQ (and effects .. which isn't that concerning as turning the knob to zero should cut them without effecting the sound) in the chain that will colour the sound..I know it is very easy to adjust things so it all works . My question is does anyone run something similar instead of an audio interface?? .. I really like the idea of being able to record a stereo mix of a few instruments/mics when need, hence why I have started to look into these

I have no experience with anything like that but based on what it does I believe it would work fine.
