I can't believe the old soundclick links still work.......... Here's some VH riffs, I totally forgot we recorded these. I can't remember if this was the 2203 or the extra gain stage to be quite honest. It may be into the extra gain stage straight into the amp with a 12.6 K Seymour Duncan Seymourizer in a Franky Northern Ash body. Amp is running 6550A Shuguang power tubes.

We were in learning mode on how to record with Cubase so the clips are rough at best but you get to hear the real core tone of the amp with NO post EQ, we only added reverb and delay I don't remember what reverbs or amounts of delay. It was probably the last time I messed around with DAW recording.

There you go PLX you say I never post clips.......................... I am waiting for your critique.... ;)

This is the same montage totally dry no effects no post EQ, it's straight outta the amp.

This is the same montage clip but with delay and reverb

Same VH RIff montage with the dry track pushed up a bit.

It's about the tone.

I don't come here and listen to the audio clips to critique someone's playing (even my own sloppy playing).

I wanna figure out how to get certain tones.

That amp went through a bunch of different versions and it eventually became similar to a Cameron Aldrich mod. I removed the Jose Master and went with the JCM800, I installed NFB control which was cool because we could dial in plexi like sag sponginess to the tone set to 47K or tighten it up to 100-200K NFB, the amp of course had a depth mod. I didn't stop tweaking the amp until 2013, I would try stuff and my brother would be the final arbiter of whether or not he like what I did. I was running 82K bias splitters with .1uf coupling caps in that amp which was equivalent to the stock .022uf/220K bias splitters on the amount of bass passed. I never did install a Metro loop, I was against loops, I told him to reamp it and put his effects in there if he wanted that.

He wanted Cameron Aldrich tone so I got as close as I could get. He did get to compare it directly to a Cameron Ocean and it was pretty close.

After many years removed and not hearing those clip for many years I am surprised that the first iteration of the amp was so Marshally and very aggressive and bitey. It was a mishmash of ideas from all the great high gainers our there. Here was the second or third iteration of the amp recorded with a Zoom HD3Din January 2012. There is a bunch or chorus in this clip as my bro was into the Zakk tone at the time guitar was a Korean EPI Les Paul Custom with a Suhr Aldrich pickup. It also had footswitchable gain selections rhythm and lead.
