Very cool

I checked out the one Peter Thorn and Dave Friedman did about a month ago, and it really surprised me.

I preferred the sound of the 9K A2 humbuckers more than the Dimarzio SD's.

I 100% honestly believe you can EASILY nail EVH's tone by either using a SD SH1 or a SD SH5 in to a Marshall 1959 & 4 x 12 with some verb & an echoplex pre amp.

The REAL trick to sounding like EVH is ONLY playing EVH tracks note for note start to finish.

I agree with most of your posits but in that video there are some pickups that provide a more correct VH1 tone than others.
