Ok, so I tried this and it was weird. :?

Raspy sounding. Not good at all. Not sure what to think about that.

I put it back to just having the 16Ω 4x12 cab plugged into the 8Ω tap, and it sounds great again.

I have a resistive/reactive selector switch on my home-made load box, but I didn't think to try that. I got all freaked out when I lost my sound so I put everything back.

That sounds kinda strange...just using an attenuator between the amp and speaker cabinet should not make it sound raspy just less volume. Granted running at 70 ACV that's a pretty good volume drop anyway but I use my RIvera Rockcrusher set on 16 ohms and it doesn't change the tone of the amp or cause raspyness as you described. :?

What make attenuator is it? I know you built your killer Aiken load box did you build an attenuator as well?

My bad.

I'm running the reactive load in parallel to the 4x12 cab. It's the one I built, not a produced device.

Yeah, it was weird. It did not sound good, at all.

That is weird...... that resistive/reactive load should just operate just like 16 ohm cabinet the amp should not notice anything different. HMMMMMM... :?

I have a lot to learn about capturing a good recorded tone.

The amp sounds great through the 4x12 cab in the room, but after spending the past weekend studying Reaper, I can see I'm overloading the input signal when recording (amongst other errors).

My goal is to be able to have a recorded track sound like the amp does in the room.. Unfortunately, the recordings I'm making now sound weak and anemic compared to the actual amp/cabinet sound. :|

When I can finally get all of that shit figured out I will post all kinds of clips. Until then I just get frustrated and want to throw everything at the wall.
