I wouldn't call Fascism left or right wing per se... but rather an "oppressive governmental template" that can be wielded by tyrants.

But I also love (as it's 100% accurate) James Woods' quote:

"Scratch a liberal, find a Fascist"

If anything, I would simply state that the left wing, deep down, is drawn to Fascism and finds it appealing.
