My grandmother was just diagnosed with dementia at her doctor's visit last week and then broke her femur Saturday. Thanks, brother - I appreciate that. She is the only member of my family aside from a cousin of mine who is not a liberal and until about three months ago, we'd talk daily on my lunch break. The decline started becoming evident maybe around May or so but the past two months or so it's like night and day and now it's like there's a small sliver of the person I knew left but not much.

I was very close to my paternal grandmother. I think of her often, even though she passed over 30 years ago.

It all started with dementia. It got to where she wasn't safe to be alone in her own home. Once my father put her in a nursing home, she didn't last much longer.
