Neural DSP Fortin Cali Groove 12 (remix)

Post by lll »

Laying down rough rhythm n solo. Purely experimental.

Removed my usual FX chain on the "2" (excpet UAD Ampex ATR102 tape) and instead used one single plugin: Brainworks Masterdesk Pro.

Also re-EQd solo tone.

Thanks - actually turned off the speaker sim in the NeuralDSP Fortin Cali plugin and ran the GetGoodDrums (same company) "Goldstack" speaker iR plugin. Goldstack is a collection of Marshall G12M25 cabs old and new.

Reason why is because I wanted to try a G12M25 instead of the V30s that come with Fortin Cali plugin. There's a particular speaker in Goldstack (called "Barky" - actually a '77 Blackback) that just sounds good every time.

Mild EQing with Pultecs. Touch of Eventide

The Goldstack speaker iR plugin:

Personally, not a fan of the V30 speaker.. Doesn't work for what I do.

Prefer Celestion Greenbacks - no matter what amp I'm using.

I like V30s; it's a different flavor. But Greenbacks n Blackbacks are my favorite. And the Gold.

Goldstack is $35. I dig it thoroughly.

Here's the speaker list (all G12M-25s):

pulsonic era:
*Smoky ('69)
*Syrupy (worn out '70)

===

creamback era:
*Glassy (r/c1 cone '75)

===

blackback era:
*Barky ('77)

===

reissues 80's
*Woody ('89)

===

reissues 90's
*Focused ('96)

===

reissues 2k's
*Rich ('03)
