VH 1 tone test

Is the Jalen pickup again? Can't get away from those JB (Jalen) mids; can't EQ them out.

No shit, man ! I think you're right about that. I was getting sooo damn close to that tone while A/B'ing the isolated guitar track in the DAW, but it was like every time I'd start tweaking the EQ I could only get so close.

I tell ya what, using room mics in the blend seems to help !

General rule of thumbs I use when tone cloning is:

1) Use the same gear they did, including studio
2) If you don't have the same gear (or don't know what was used), then use an appropriate substitute

I'm gonna use that exact same signal chain and use the Super 70 pickup.. see what I get.

Your older On Fire clip with the Super 70 & secret pedal = "Clip Don't Lie". That was extremely close.

If you get a chance, try placing a Neve 1073 in the signal chain (setup as a mic preamp).. Tell me what you think.
