Favorite Album Covers
Back in the day before song samples a lot of records were bought or passed over because of the artwork. I came across a lot of great heavy bands based on artwork. I probably missed out on a few as well by utilizing this measuring stick but I always loved the artwork, liner notes and lyrics, etc. What are some of your favorites?
These were game changers for me. The detail and vivid colors were captivating!

Yeah those Maiden album covers were something else.

Re: Favorite Album Covers
Those Maiden covers Rocky posted in the OP always take me back and remind me of going to Montgomery Ward's with my grandmother as a kid - I'd go to the record department and gaze at eah of those Maiden covers until she was ready to go...this was when Piece Of mind was their current album. Without a doubt, my all-time favorite album cover is Powerslave. I'm pissed my original lp is no longer with me, I've bought it on cd several times over the years but would give anything for my old vinyl back with the raised lettering and texture to the front cover - that artwork is just awesome.
I've always loved Death's Scream Bloody Gore artwork, also - recently, I bought and really dig Steel Bearinghand's Slay In Hell album art:

Maiden really changed the game with their vivid colors and detailed artwork. I have so many memories looking at this stuff. Good times!Watson503 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 19, 2021 3:25 am Those Maiden covers Rocky posted in the OP always take me back and remind me of going to Montgomery Ward's with my grandmother as a kid - I'd go to the record department and gaze at eah of those Maiden covers until she was ready to go...this was when Piece Of mind was their current album.
