Sadly, you are right. There was footage of an event at a high school recently where students held some pride event showing how they stood with and supported gays and it was insane how so many of the kids were out there holding signs but also on camera were saying pro-gay slogans - and this was all of the kids, the jocks too, kids who not long ago would've been giving people swirlies for shit like this.
