Biden issues federal pardons for 'simple possession' of marijuana
Officials estimate about 6,500 people with federal convictions for simple possession of marijuana will benefit.
No-one is currently in federal prison solely for possession of marijuana. Most convictions occur at state level.
But the federal pardons will make it easier for people to get employment, housing, and education, Mr Biden said.
As a presidential candidate, Mr Biden promised to decriminalise cannabis use, as well as expunging convictions.
"Sending people to prison for possessing marijuana has upended too many lives and incarcerated people for conduct that many states no longer prohibit," Mr Biden said on Thursday.

I agree. I smoked for years and then started strictly smoking before bedtime to get better sleep and 6 months ago stopped completely for a few different reasons, mainly to set a better example to my stepsons. It's weird because now in this area, it is hard to find regular old commercial-grade herb and it is all the high-THC herb and everything from wax to the edibles and vape pens. This new shit is so different and these kids smoke it like we'd smoke regular herb back in the old days - maybe even more as they're constantly puffing on vapes or the dab shit and I can't imagine how they feel and function as that shit zombifies you - or if it is a sativa then you're just high as hell. Once again TPTB love to see this and once they figure it out, roadside DUI tests for marijuana are going to net a whole shitload of new names to be placed in the system.

I smoked back in high school (late 70's).
The shit we had back then was so weak compared to what was around when I got out of the Army.
I quit many years ago. The stuff now is almost all contaminated with Fentanyl and God knows what. I wouldn't touch it.
