I hear ya. I pray it goes in your favor for sure. I don't see how you are at fault in any way and it is unfair / wrong for you to suffer any loss in the situation.

That's the bitch of it.. I did nothing wrong.

I sold a mint condition, vintage, combo amp online, and nothing but bullshit has ensued ever since the buyer received it.

My gut instinct is the buyer damaged the amp by being an idiot, and then re-packed it intentionally bad to cover his tracks - hoping/knowing it would be further damaged in the trip back to Texas.

I mean.. who does that :?:

In this state of things It doesn't matter what you do any seller is at the mercy of these lax return policies and the buyers know this and are using them to their full advantage... so even if you have done hundreds to thousands of deals it's just a matter of time before the turd drops into your punchbowl.... Here's hoping things go your way....

Conclusion: All's well that ends well

Yesterday morning, I get an e-mail from the <unnamed online gear selling site> telling me the amp buyer has "filed an inquiry with the card issuer on this order". The buyer is saying he handed the amplifier over to UPS.

They further asked me to issue a full refund immediately, since the buyer is no longer in possession of the amp.

So I reply with, "As I told you before, I don't have the amp either.. UPS has it, and they're not giving it back to me."

The nice lady at <unnamed online gear selling site> tells me, "Tough titty...

Give the buyer his money back and fight it out with UPS."

So I drive down to the UPS Store this morning and tell them, "Look, it's been 30 days now.. You told me this would be resolved in 2 weeks. I am being ordered to refund the buyer the full amount. Where's my insurance claim money?"

They try to contact UPS head office again, no luck. UPS is telling them they mailed the claim check 10 days ago.. blah, blah..

Finally, the guy behind the counter produces an envelope with my name on it. Inside is a check for $1,066 - that's $186 more than I had to refund the amp buyer.

So, the amp I no longer wanted is gone. I got the full sale price of the amp.. paid no shipping fees, did not pay the 8% sales fee from the site, and the cost of shipping refunded back to me.

Plus $186.00, due to the difference between the amount I insured the amp for and the actual sale price.

The moral of this story ?

In case I missed it in your post... who is refunding the buyer from your sale on unnamed music retailer auction? You or is UPS refunding both the buyer and seller?

If that's the case I guess miracle still do happen.... 8-) 8-)

I had to refund the buyer $880 yesterday afternoon.

UPS cut me a check this morning for $1,066

Even if the sale of the amplifier had gone as planned, I would have gotten $880.. minus 8% sales fees of the site, minus $80 in shipping costs.
